"Paper Dreams" - by Mary Ellen Palmeri
This artist combines her love for paper with a rich sense of color and design to create unique paper art tableaus.
Her pieces often include origami, dry embossing, imported and handmade or hand decorated papers with original drawings.
Each piece begins by sketching a new idea and experimenting with imagery and layout. As the idea develops, paper folding begins:
researching and developing origami models to find the precise combination of design, paper and proportion that best illustrates a newly
expressed idea. Hand decorating papers might be necessary at this step. Dry embossing comes next as the artist explores design forms
that complement the folded images for the overall idea. Once those images are developed, the decision is made whether or not the raised
surfaces are to be left plain, or if any color will be added. Contact the artist: maryellen@lyric-arts.com
